The GigE Plus Fiber Optic Network delivers Ethernet transport Services throughout the Western counties of Ohio. The GigE Plus Fiber Optic Network was formed by bringing over 1500 route miles of the Gigabit Ethernet Plus Availability Coalition together under the common management of Independents Fiber Network, a Com Net Incorporated (CNI) company. The GigE Plus Fiber Optic Network establishes a backhaul network for facilitating the delivery of new and improved broadband services to rural and underserved communities in 28 Western Ohio counties, two Southern Michigan counties, and one county in Indiana. The 35+ Broadband Service Providers that are interconnected to the GigE Plus Fiber Optic Network utilize these facilities to power their Fiber-To-The-Home, Wi-Fi, WiMAX, Cable Modem and xDSL service solutions to residential and business customers in communities located within the network coverage area.
Independents Fiber Network maintains an open access policy in association with the GigE Plus Fiber Optic Network, which means any provider will be able to interconnect to the network at reasonable rates and terms. This benefits businesses and organizations connecting to the network by allowing them to select from multiple providers on a Best-in-Class and/or Best-in-Value basis or by deploying in-house services across the network.
